The term “young blood” has numerous slang definitions.  The most common refers to a “newbie”, someone new on a job or situation.  It is often not used in a nice way.  Some refer to it more clearly by saying, “It means you are young.  Your blood is still young”.  However, in the early 90’s, ‘young blood’ was used to refer to a young black american male.

The song was covered by The Beatles, The Band, and others.

In the song, the singer follows the young-blood home and runs into her dad.  That indicates further that she is young, still living at home and under daddy’s roof (and within shot gun range!).
